What is a grief ritual?
Grief rituals are intimate spaces held to help us relearn to be with grief in the original way: communally. We were never meant to grieve alone and we were never meant to be so disconnected from our grief as we are today. These rituals offer a gentle opportunity to connect with others while tending to our broken hearts.
Do I have to have prior experience to attend?
No, the rituals are guided and you may participate at your comfort level.
What kinds of things happen during a grief ritual?
There’s an opening and a closing, and invitations to engage with our grief, such as writing shuttles, singing, listening to the earth, creative practice, or simply peering compassionately within to witness. You’ll be invited to share and witness for others as well in gentle ways.
Who is leading the ritual?
Nicole Francesca of The Wild Light Within and Allie Hoffer of Mad Astral will co-lead THE DEEP ACHE. We bring both the lived experience of being neurodivergent, queer spoonies and the experience of being mental health professionals.
What lineage do you practice from?
THE DEEP ACHE is born from the politicized grief ritual leadership training, The Heart is a Frontline, co-facilitated by Holly Truhlar, Naila Francis, Tajah Schall, and Jessi Rado, which is in the lineage of adrienne marie brown and Frances Weller.
